Study Questions for Sunday May 5th, 2024

Each week, Pastor Melissa will publish a list of study questions that pertain to next week’s sermon.  You can use these questions in your own study, or if you prefer, there is an Adult Sunday School class that meets in the Fellowship Hall every Sunday at 9:15 to review these questions.

Reflection Questions: “Hooked” Week Two: “Follow Me” Mark 1:14-20, Isaiah 49:5-6
1. Where did you go the first time you really “left home”?
2. Could you even imagine walking out of your job to answer the call of Christ?
3. What if you were in Simon and Andrew’s shoes. Would you question the call and want a
little more information before deciding to leave everything and join Jesus? What can we
learn from their response?
4. If the disciples show what it means to “repent and believe,” where are you: (a) still
fishing? (b) keeping the old business going and spending nights and weekends with Jesus?
(c) Swimming to shore? Explain.
5. Look at scripture to those Jesus called into ministry, make a list and ask; If these same
people were pre-screened for their kingdom worthiness how many of them do you think
would’ve make the final cut?
6. What are the broader implications of spreading wide the kingdom net?
7. What is the “good news” according to Jesus? What might this kingdom mean to the
disciples?
8. What can we learn about our faith as we look at the kind of people Christ engaged in
ministry
