At First United Methodist Church, we believe that health is a gift from God and that caring for our bodies is an important part of our faith. Our Health Ministry is dedicated to promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being within our congregation and the wider community.
Through education, support, and compassionate care, we strive to help individuals and families live healthy, balanced lives in harmony with their faith.
Our Mission
The mission of the Health Ministry is to:
- Promote Wellness in body, mind, and spirit for all ages.
- Provide Support through education, health screenings, and resources.
- Foster a Caring Community where members feel supported in their health journeys.
We are committed to addressing the whole person, integrating faith and health in ways that honor God and empower individuals to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
What We Offer
Health Screenings
Our Health Ministry offers regular screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, and more. These screenings are provided by licensed healthcare professionals and are open to the congregation and the community.
- When: First Sunday of every month, after each worship service
- Where: Fellowship Hall
Health Education Workshops
We host a variety of workshops and seminars on topics such as nutrition, mental health, stress management, and chronic illness care. These sessions are led by experts in the field and provide practical advice and support for maintaining health and wellness.

- Location: Church Conference Room
Support Groups
We offer support groups for individuals and families dealing with illness, grief, or challenging life transitions. These groups provide a safe space to share, pray, and receive encouragement.
- Grief Support Group: Thursdays at 6:30 PM
- Chronic Illness Support Group: 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM
Prayer and Healing Services
In times of illness or emotional distress, our Prayer and Healing Services provide a peaceful setting for worship, prayer, and the laying on of hands. These services are open to anyone seeking God’s healing touch.
- When: Last Sunday of every month at 5:00 PM
- Where: Sanctuary
Community Health Initiatives
Our Health Ministry is actively involved in serving the health needs of our community. Through partnerships with local healthcare organizations, we participate in health fairs, vaccination clinics, and outreach programs designed to promote wellness and provide care for underserved populations.
Flu Vaccine Clinic
- Date: November 5, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Details: Free flu vaccines will be offered to all members and community residents. No appointment necessary.
Community Health Fair
- Date: March 9, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Location: Church Parking Lot
- Details: Join us for a day of health education, free screenings, and information from local health professionals. Open to the public!
